The reflections underlying this presentation are rooted in more than two decades of research conducted within Cape Verdean society. This research is part of an effort to understand family dynamics in a context marked by the circulation of people, a practice and value that shape local identity due to a deeply rooted culture of emigration. Within this study, we will examine the dynamics of societal movement and the formation of the family unit at a distance. This analysis will focus on a specific type of circulation: the circulation of goods in migratory contexts. The aim of this presentation is to demonstrate the complexity and strategic importance of this practice of maintaining proximity, even at a distance.
